Red Young is a pianist, organist, vocalist, arranger, producer, artist, and bandleader with a dynamic career spanning six decades. As a touring and recording musician, he has worked with legendary artists such as Linda Rondstadt, Lloyd Price, Sonny & Cher, Dolly Parton, Joan Armatrading, and Eric Burdon, while also arranging, performing, and producing music for TV, film, and live concerts. Inspired by a deep love of jazz, blues, and orchestral music, Red has drawn from a rich tapestry of influences, including Nat King Cole, Duke Ellington, Ray Charles, and Booker T.
Over the years, he has led projects blending complex arrangements with accessible, audience-friendly performances. Notable highlights include his big band, Red and the Red Hots, which performed across the U.S. and collaborated with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, and his 8-member ensemble, Red Young and His Hot Horns.
In addition to touring and arranging, Red has released several albums of original music and continues to perform and create. Based in Austin since 2002, he remains dedicated to pushing musical boundaries and sharing his passion for jazz and organ music.
