About this event

Jazz at St. James
Featuring

Tia Fuller
& her band

St. James' Episcopal Church
Saturday, November 16, 7:00 PM

Here at St. James’ Episcopal Church, we celebrate the music of freedom and life. Every year we come together to share in the moment and to immerse ourselves in its embrace and history.  Join us for the 30th Anniversary concerts and the Jazz Mass on November 15-17, 2024, for Jazz at St. James'. This year’s festival will feature the world-class saxophonist, Tia Fuller and her band.

Grammy-Nominated Saxophonist Tia Fuller, a musical powerhouse, is a force to be reckoned with, seamlessly blending technical brilliance and melodic creativity across genres, including jazz, pop, R&B, and more. She has toured globally as a member of the all-female band for Grammy-winning superstar Beyoncé, performing on major stages and television shows. She has also collaborated with a who's who of the music industry, including Jay-Z, Jill Scott, Patti LaBelle, and Aretha Franklin.

Beyond her collaborative work, Fuller is a celebrated solo artist with five critically acclaimed albums. Her latest release, "Diamond Cut," received a Grammy nomination for Best Instrumental Jazz.  Tia is also known for playing the saxophone for the character, Dorothea Williams, in Disney Pixar’s academy award winning film “Soul”.

Educator and Innovator
Tia Fuller's impressive resume showcases not only her artistic prowess but also her dedication to education. A graduate of Spelman College (magna cum laude) and the University of Colorado at Boulder (summa cum laude), Fuller's academic background is as impressive as her stage presence.  As a professor at Berklee College of Music, Fuller inspires over 70 students weekly, leading various ensembles and classes. Her innovative approach includes groundbreaking productions featuring contemporary pop artists like Beyoncé and Bruno Mars. These collaborations offer students invaluable real-world experiences, replicating A-list tour productions.
