About Carolyn Trowbridge

Austin Music Award-nominated multi-instrumentalist and composer Carolyn Trowbridge is an energetic, multifaceted artist. Her fluency with her craft creates memorable musical experiences, fueled by a zealous passion for all things sound.

She has collaborated and performed with several renowned artists, including Grammy nominees Black Pumas, Adrian Quesada, Bayonne, Graham Reynolds, Conspirare, and many more. She performs regularly with numerous local Austin bands, such as the Alex Coke & Carl Michel Sextet, Star Parks, Hard Proof, The Azmaris, Simon Says, and Stop Motion Orchestra, as well as leading her own instrumental ensembles.

Her playing has been featured at the Moody Theater, as well as at international music festivals including ACL, SXSW, and on PBS Austin City Limits Live tapings.

Finding inspiration in childhood memories, the natural world, and her own children, Carolyn composes for percussion ensembles, jazz combos, solo literature, and steel drum band. She recently recorded her debut solo album, Found Memories—an evocative homage to the impactful moments in her life, from a spirited grackle attack at Whole Foods to the winding staircase of her Czech childhood home. Found Memories is set for release in late 2025.

Carolyn’s musical foundation and influences stem from growing up overseas in West Africa, the Czech Republic, and Norway, with a few years in Alexandria, VA. She earned a Bachelor’s in Music from James Madison University and a Master’s in Music from the University of Texas at Austin.
