The Purpose of Austin Jazz Society

The Austin Jazz Society, Inc, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, was established in 2003 pursuant to a bequest in the will of William Kirchner.

The purpose of Austin Jazz Society is to memorialize professional jazz musicians who, at some point in their career, performed in Austin and the surrounding areas. It is also our aim to celebrate current performing jazz artists and encourage and educate future jazz musicians. Our purpose is achieved through concerts, educational workshops, and performance opportunities.

The Objectives of Austin Jazz Society

  2. To provide professional development and educational opportunities in the jazz performance and music industry to future jazz musicians;
  3. To celebrate current jazz artists; and
  4. To hold annual concerts to provide a venue for professional jazz artists to perform, and to allow for a celebration of the lives of those jazz artists who have passed.
